How it all started
Fundokin was founded in 1861 in Usuki City in Oita by Kotegawa Kinjiro. Our brand name comes from combining “Fundo” and the name of the founder “Kinjiro”. In Japanese, the word “Fundo” refers to lead or copper weight used with scales for weighing products. This represents our management philosophy, meaning “quality certainty” and “honesty”.
Spreading our wings with fundokin yakin
In recent years, there has been a strong demand for Japanese products. However, many Japanese products in the market may not be halal certified. In 2019, we established Fundokin Yakin Sdn. Bhd. with Yakin Sedap Sdn. Bhd., a localized JAKIM products manufacturer exclusively to produce “Made by Japan, Made in Malaysia” condiments for the Malaysian and ASEAN markets.
